Arsenal have a chance to get some revenge over Borussia Dortmund when they travel to Germany, kick-off for the game is 19:45 GMT tomorrow.
Borussia Dortmund played superbly during the reverse of this fixture in North London to secure three points and end Arsenal’s perfect start to the Champions League. Arsenal are one of three teams in their group on six points.
The Gunners should be confident because they come off the back of a solid win over Liverpool last weekend. It was a real test for the Premier League leaders and one they passed with flying colours.
Here is the side Arsene Wenger may go with for the game.
GK – Wojciech Szczesny
The Polish goalkeeper should remain in goal for the Gunners. He’s been very consistent for the club so far this season and he’ll have to produce some of his best football in this game to shut out the Dortmund attack.
RB – Bacary Sagna
The French defender should keep his place on the right hand side. It will be interesting to see if Dortmund target him but defensively he’s a solid player and can offer a lot going forward. He could be a vital tool on the counter attack for the Gunners.
CB – Per Mertesacker
This is a good chance for the German to prove what a top quality defender he is back in his own country. He’ll be looking to be dominant in all aspects but his positioning needs to be spot in if he’s going to keep out Robert Lewandowski.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman is one of the best defenders at the club and someone who is a lot quicker than some forwards may think. His pace means that Arsenal can play a higher line and he can cover for Mertesacker who doesn’t have the same levels of pace.
LB – Nacho Monreal
Kieran Gibbs picked up a knock against Liverpool which saw him taken off late in the game. Monreal is a more than capable replacement if Gibbs is not fit enough for selection and he should relish the chance to lay down a claim for a regular spot in the side.
AM – Tomas Rosicky
Rosicky is a very versatile player, someone who controls the game well and someone who protects the ball. He should stay on the right of midfield but he can drift, playing in central positions as well as taking up a slot on the left side of midfield.
DM – Mikel Arteta
Arteta was superb against Liverpool when it came to that holding role in midfield. He got about and put himself in the firing line, making it difficult for Liverpool to move the ball quickly through the middle of the pitch. He’ll be vital against Dortmund’s midfield runners.
CM – Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey scored a fantastic goal against Liverpool to continue his great start to the season. Expect to see him slot into the middle of the side. He’ll be the player who breaks forward from a central position most often and his effectiveness getting forward, will be vital in helping out Olivier Giroud.
RM – Mesut Ozil
Ozil should play his normal role at the top of the midfield, in behind the main striker. He’s looked very comfortable in this role so far this season and he is one of the Arsenal players capable of taking Dortmund apart with a single pass.
LM – Santi Cazorla
Cazorla is in a similar position to Rosicky in the respect that he’ll start out wide but may not stay there. He too is good enough to cover any position across the midfield but Arsene Wenger may ask him to provide some control down the left, especially if Monreal plays.
ST – Olivier Giroud
The French centre forward played very well the last time he was in Germany with the Gunners against Bayern Munich. That will serve him well and should give him the confidence that he can push on and dominate in this match.
